Celebrating Sint Marteen in the Westerkwartier neighborhood

Hello ladies Sint Marteen is the closes to Halloween that Dutch traditions have. We are lucky to have a wonderful one in the Werteskwartier (behing train station)

can purchase ready made lampion (colorful paper lantern with a stick to illuminate it an dcarrying it around) for 1 euro 25

you can also come to a workshop on 5 nov at the wending community center from 13:00 till 14:30 to learn how to make you rown (only 1 euro)

Last year was really neat. Children sing songs to neighbors to get a treat (candy; cookies fruit) A marching band and volunteers helping to collect treats were walking along announcing the parade's arrival.
The next day people return to get their share of the treats that are collected collectively that night.

oh oh I forgot to say that people meet up at the Wending buurthuis on th eraamstraat in front of the church next to westerhonk playground
